I never really understand why people become insular when times get tough and lean... that is the time when we need to help each other out the most which helps smooth over life's peaks and valleys.

A true measure of character is the ability to selflessly give of one's self... without expecting anything in return!

Just yesterday I emailed this to a Boston tech/software VC I met with a few times. I hope it's appropriate to post it here also:

Do you think you can somehow help this guy (he's from Boston)... find a job or whatever. This is from a post he made on Aidpage... http://idealey.aidpage.com/about.htm

"Software Engineer Struggling with Autism... I'm twice certified "advanced" for ColdFusion. I'm published in trade journals. I was a member of two invitation only expert programs, the Team Macromedia program and the Adobe Community Experts. I've given presentations at two conferences and a number of user-groups..."

I don't know him personally... he doesn't know me. I simply noticed his posts on Aidpage.

A great, timely post. A person's true personality emerges when he or she is put under stress.

The always heroic and stoic warren buffet says:

When the tide goes out, you see who is swimming naked.

That's a good one. I'll have to use that quote on my blog sometime soon.

What you say here is so important. Thanks for writing this.

Obama will create new entrepreneurial WPA-like programs which will extend a much needed helping hand to our community.

Couldn't agree more. We just released our first consumer version of kidthing (www.kidthing.com) before the collapse and are now looking for our first VC financing round to keep growing the company - so I sincerely hope that folks take your advice to heart.
