    That's retro cool. I have a ton of vinyl in boxes in basement--- Songs in the Key of Life, All of Jethro Tull, Earth Wind and Fire, Cosby: Why is there air. Somehow, I can't part with them! Cheers, Drake

    You were smart to keep them. Much smarter than me.

    Great choice! I've been holding off on replacing my ancient turntable (mortgage, retirement, college funds, blah, blah, blah), but when I break down I'm almost certainly going to go with Rega.

    @whitney

    At least you have a turntable. I didn¹t even have one!

    Sorry to burst your bubble, Bijan: the Rega looks great but the industrial design of the Technics 1200 will never be beat!

    ;-)

    At any rate, I'm going to go drop an Ortofon on D'Angelo's "Voodoo" right now, thanks for the inspiration! Welcome [back?] to the club!

    Quadrophenia played at 10. There is nothing better. One of my favorite records ever.

    I'm sure you'll like the Rega--I've got one myself. Just make sure you connect it to a quality phono stage preamp. So you'll need a new Preamp, preferably one with tubes. And that won't sound right unless you've got a tube amp, preferably a vintage Mac :)

    i thought i could just plug it into my receiver that has a phono input. am i wrong?
  • hybernaut · 11 months ago
    That should work! Not everything has a Phono stage these days, tho.

    We look forward to your blog posts decrying how thin and lifeless the digital versions of your old vinyl favorites sound by comparison!
