BijanBlog: Testing the Blackberry Bold vs iPhone 3g

I would be ok with the iphone keyboard if they would enable the f#$king widescreen safari keyboard in obvious places like Mail and SMS. As it stands, I miss my treo 750's keyboard badly.

    Thanks for posting this review.

Agreed. I'm suprised they haven't done that yet.

I have no comment about the iPhone or the Blackberry, I have never used an iPhone. But I also use PhoneTag or Simulscribe or whatever they are calling it these days and I absolutely love it.

At first I didn't really like it but at this point I haven't actually listened to a voice message in months. I have it set to notify me via SMS and then email the message to me, and that works great.

I can't say enough good things about PhoneTag/Simulscribe.

the browser is the main shortcoming of blackberry for me. i lose out on a myriad of mobile webapps like HyperOffice and SalesForce if i use blackberry.

Thanks, Bijan. Very helpful. I've been waiting to see how the Bold looks once fully baked before making the move on the iPhone. I use my iPod Touch via WiFi for many things, so I have had the iPhone experience without the nasty phone part ;-)

Lack of Exchange task synchronization may end up being a killer for me, though. I'm not in love with the virtual keyboard, but I suppose I could get used to it. I would also really like it if email status - forwarded/replied/etc - was sync'd. I really don't understand why they went half-way with Exchange integration.

well i guess Blackberry is the right choice. stick to it, unless iphone gets some more applications.

Well I certainly flip flopped on this one

I'm back to using the bold as my primary device for the past month or so.

Its just faster and more stable than the iphone. I wish it wasn't the case. Because the ui on the berry feels a hundred years old.

Keyboard. It took awhile but after a few months, I actually prefer the iphone keyboard to the Blackberry Bold keyboard. I think the Bberry Curve has the best keyboard. The keypad on the Bold seems too close together or something
